Installation: Fantasy of an East Williamsburg Loft as an Affordable Housing Unit... What is Affordability?
The installation is based on a floor plan for a one-bedroom low-income public housing unit in Bushwick. The structure is built out of graffiti-inspired dialog-based oil paintings documenting conversations with real-estate developers, new residents of Bushwick and long-term residents of Bushwick experiencing development-led displacement. The installation is also constructed from items referencing East Williamsburg loft culture and refuse salvaged from public housing construction sites. Group 238 includes Nyx, Page Whitmore and Melissa Bolger. Based in Bushwick/Brooklyn, New York.

Music by: Manny Velasquez and Marc Rivera Playing music they rememember listening to while growing up in Bushwick Brooklyn, NY. Inner City Classics. "What we're gonna do is go back, way back, back into time..... A time where there was a great depression of the inner city.. Also a time to celebrate the creativity and innovation of art that came from it.. So while you can see touch and smell it.. you will be taken on a sonic journey to hear what it was to walk the streets full of music..."
Music Performance: Michael Truckpile, His music dances across the boundaries of folk, country and gut-bucket rocking. With an intently exploratory and expressive voice backed by his steady, dynamic acoustic guitar playing, Michael spins yarns of frustration and hope around the question marks of life. He is currently at work on his second CD "My Letter Finds You.." that reflects the stew of influences he's accumulated over the years. Michael's attitude and songs are grounded in a love for people and life and indiscriminately inter fuse the personal with the political. His spontaneous live performances engage the audience in the adventure of a song's birth, always manifesting with slightly different characteristics and flourishes. Michael has made the cozy, Hudson valley town of Rosendale, NY his home base and hewn a sound that is rich and enveloping, bringing listeners into the intimate journey through self reflection, satire and revelation.
